On the afternoon of December 15, 2017, the first faculty conference of the School of Mathematics was held in the report hall of the science library of Tianjin University. The leaders from the School of Mathematics and the faculty members from the School of Mathematics attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Sun Xiaotao, dean of the School of Mathematics.
First of all, the conference carried out the election for the Labor Union and the Teachers’ Congress of the School of Mathematics. 7 committees were elected for the Labor Union, and 53 representatives were elected for the Teachers’ Congress by the secret ballot election.
Next, Sun Xiaotao made a speech. He mentioned that the School of Mathematics has made many achievements such as Quishi Maths Class and Natural Science Funds which are all the results of the concerted efforts of each people from the School of Mathematics. To make more glories based on previous achievements is the hope and mission for Sun since he became the dean of the School of Mathematics. “Although a good start has been made by us, the development of the School of Mathematics has a long way to go.” Sun said. He portrayed his ideal from following four aspects: first, in the field of academic research, we should become the mainstream in domestic academy, reach a high level and go to the world stage in future with a good reputation; second, in terms of teacher evaluation, we should take the business level as the only criterion to pursue excellence, and to become a compound educator, mathematician and manager by our unremitting efforts; third, Sun hopes that there are frequent academic exchanges, thinking exchanges and an active academic atmosphere; fourth, the mathematical talents will have excellent performance in their perspective fields in future. He stressed that the School of Mathematics has a long way to go to achieve its goal, and it is imperative to launch the comprehensive reform for the development. He also emphasized that the realization of this ideal needs the sincere hearts and unremitting efforts of all the people from the School of Mathematics.
At last, Liu Na, the associate dean from the School of Mathematics introduced the concept of new personnel system. She interpreted the new personnel system from the goals and tasks of development, the current situation, the formation, perfection, direction and framework of the new personnel system.
