In this talk I will explain why nilpotent structures arise naturally in the study of dynamical systems and how they are related to combinatorial number theory.

简介：叶向东，中国科学技术大学教授, 长期从事基础数学中拓扑动力系统、遍历理论及其应用的研究。他与合作者在动力系统的结构定理、多重遍历平均的收敛、熵的理论、动力系统的复杂性等方面进行了深入研究并得到了一系列深刻的结果。

叶向东是国家杰出青年科学基金获得者，教育部长江学者特聘教授。2013年获第十四届陈省身数学奖、2018年获国家自然科学二等奖（第一完成人）、2019年当选中国科学院院士、2020年获得何梁何利科学与技术进步奖。
