Recently, the symposium on the planning and argumentation of the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Applied Algebraic Geometry and Discrete Mathematics at Tianjin University was successfully held in Tianjin.
The approval of this laboratory is due to the rapid development of the rapid development and enhanced disciplinary strength of the Mathematics School since its establishment a few years ago. The breakthrough achievements made in its discipline evaluation, showcase the university's comprehensive layout focusing on strength in engineering, depth in science, vitality in humanities, and advancement in medicine.
The lab manager, presented the laboratory construction plan, elaborating on its purpose and significance, research directions, expected goals, team building, mechanisms of management and guarantees to the attending experts.
The expert panel appreciated Tianjin University's achievements in the fields of algebra and geometry, discrete mathematics, analysis and probability, and applied mathematics, recognizing the laboratory's focus on interdisciplinary research in mathematical fundamentals and cutting-edge applied mathematics. They commended the precise positioning and distinctive features of the research directions, acknowledging its potential for sustainable development. The scientific configuration of the laboratory's team and the structured talent development support plan were deemed commendable, as were the rational management mechanisms and adequate physical space conducive to the laboratory's development needs. Therefore, they agreed that the construction plan was scientifically reasonable and should be followed. They expressed hope that the laboratory would continue its high-level research in mathematics and applied mathematics, nurture talents, and build a high-quality platform for scientific and technological innovation, so as to drive the development of mathematics and interdisciplinary fields in China.
