Since its establishment in 2016, the School of Mathematics has made remarkable strides. Through collective efforts of both faculty and students, the school has surged forward vigorously, experiencing exponential growth and garnering increased recognition. Today, it stands as a cornerstone of Tianjin university's comprehensive framework, embodying the ethos of strength in engineering, depth in science, vitality in humanities, and advancement in medicine.
Significant Leap in Academic Subjects Ranking
In 2022, the mathematics subject participated in the national subject evaluation for the first time. It secured the 23rd spot in the Shanghai Ranking-"Global Ranking of Academic Subjects," placing it within the top 10% nationally and ranking in the top 1% globally according to the ESI rankings. Moreover, it attained a place in the top 400 of QS World University Rankings for Mathematics.
Fruitful Progress in Student Cultivation
The "Seeking Truth" Mathematics Class has been selected forCultivation of Innovative Talent in Certain Basic Academic Disciplines 2.0.Furthermore, the major of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics have been included in the first batch of the national "Double 10,000 Plan" and approved asfirst-class undergraduate specialty. Notably, courses such as "Abstract Algebra" have been accredited as the nation's first-class undergraduate courses, while "Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics" has been recognized as a national-levelMassive Open Online Course (MOOC).
Outstanding Research Achievements
Tianjin University's Applied Mathematics Center is one of the initial 13 national centers sanctioned for development. Since its establishment, the school has witnessed a twofold increase in the production of top-level research papers. We have 91 projects were supported by theNational Natural Science Foundation of China. Notably, our endeavors have obtained support from theNational Natural Science Foundation of China, with 91 projects securing funding, comprising 1Science Fund for Creative Research Groups, 2Key Programs, and 3Outstanding Youth Projects. We have been approved for the Key Special Programby the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Substantial Enhancement in Faculty Quality
Our faculty encompass the academicians, recipients ofFund for Distinguished Young Scholarsand national-level young talents, which comprise 13 individuals now. Additionally, 8 teachers have received theDistinguished Young Scholars Fund. The rapid development of young scholars under 45 years old has contributed to approximately 80% of the school's research output.
